I have an opportunity to partner with my home church and with a mission group called Mi6:8 to build homes for the people living in the poverty stricken area of Tecate, Mexico.
Each year about 100 people from around the country join together in Baja, MX to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the community there. We build homes, focus on community outreach, and partner with the local church to help bring the gospel to Tecate.
This year the trip is scheduled from June 19-24, 2024. We will be building two homes for families who don’t have homes. In addition, we plan to continue work on the church we built last year by building classrooms. We will have an eye-glass clinic and outreach program that not only helps people see better with reading glasses but also goes door-to-door speaking to and praying for the families. There will be a Vacation Bible School for the neighborhood children and a Bible study for the women. Finally, we’ll partner with a local church to host a community fiesta after church service on Sunday, June 23rd. Everyone in the community will be invited to join us to not only celebrate the work that was accomplished during the week, but also to build a deeper connection with the local church.
The total cost of this trip $450 plus transportation. Anything that is raised over the amount needed will be applied to the building costs ($11,000 per home) or to Mi6:8 to aid them in the work they do year-round in MX. If God Is leading you to help me financially, you will be blessing me and also blessing a church community helping poor families. You will be making a tangible difference, both physically and spiritually in the lives of the people in Tecate.
More important than the financial need is the need for me and the whole team to be supported in prayer. We are going into a part of the world where hopelessness prevails and darkness has a stronghold. We need prayer for spiritual and physical health during our time there. We also need prayer that we will be bold, seeking open doors to show the light of Jesus Christ wherever we go.
